Coach Abdulazeez Mohammed has resigned as the Technical Adviser of Kwara United Football Club after Nassarawa United defeat on Saturday.
This information was announced by the media department of the club on Saturday
“The Coach revealed to the Media Team immediately after his team lost by 2-0 to Nasarawa United FC of Lafia at the New Jos Stadium, in Plateau, in the Matchday Seven of the NPFL decided this evening, that he is “stepping aside”.
“The technical crew were given a two-match ultimatum after losing by two goals to Enyimba International FC at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba, in the Matchday Four encounter.
According to him, “I have to step aside given the consistent run of poor results. The potentials are there for us to do well, but it’s unfortunate that things are going the wrong way.
While reacting to the resignation, the General Manager, Bashir Badawiy said that the decision of the coach has been accepted, and that the club will take necessary actions very soon.
“We have accepted his resignation, as he has accepted full responsibility for the club’s poor run. We cannot continue like this, despite the commitment of the government, the management and stakeholders.
Coach Abdulazeez Mohammed was engaged on an interim bases with 12 matches to end the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, following the relocation of Coach Usman Abdullahi Biffo to the USA, after the expiration of his three year contract.
Kwara United FC unveiled him as the new Technical Adviser after the 2021/2022 season. Mohammed berthed on the Nigerian coaching scene in 2020 with Katsina United, securing their status in the NPFL before leaving the team.
He was in charge of the CAF Confederation Cup competition involving Kwara United FC, and immediately after the club’s elimination, began preparations for the ongoing NPFL season.
So far, Kwara United have won only one match in the current season after playing round of seven games.
