Abiodun Adebara has been confirmed by the Kwara House of Assembly to serve as the state’s substantive chief judge.
The Committee of Whole, presided over by the speaker, Yakubu Salihu, met in the plenary on Wednesday to discuss Mr. Adebara’s confirmation.
In response to inquiries from parliamentarians, Mr. Adebara pledged to make sure that justice would be administered swiftly in the state.
He promised that the three branches of government will work well together to advance the state.
To address the issue of insufficient courts and other issues in the third branch of government, the justice did ask for increased budgetary resources for the state judiciary.
The house also approved the appointments of Abubakar Uthman, Oyedun Juliana, Yusuf Aremu, and Abdul Gana Lukpada to the positions of chairman and members, respectively, of the state’s Fiscal Responsibility Commission.
The speaker gave Halimah Kperogi, the house clerk, the order to inform Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq that the appointments had been confirmed.
