MAN POSING AS REVEREND FATHER DEFRAUDS STORE ATTENDANT OF N1.88M WORTH OF GOODS WITH FAKE ALERT

A man posing as a “Reverend Father” has been accused of manipulating a store attendant into releasing goods worth N1,880,000 to him. The incident occurred on June 5 at Royalline Technology in Lekki Phase 1.

According to the store attendant, the man requested two iPhone 15s, which were not available at the time. He insisted on purchasing the iPhones, claiming his parish priest had asked him to get similar phones. The attendant offered to substitute one of the iPhones with a Samsung S24 Ultra, available at the store’s second location in Sangotedo.

The man offered to drive the attendant to the other store and make payment via a bank along the way. However, he allegedly manipulated the attendant into releasing the goods without making payment. He showed a fake receipt claiming he had transferred N3,591,000 for the goods and promised to return the next day for the iPhone.

After realizing her mistake, the attendant reported the incident to the police and shared CCTV footage of the man. The store is seeking assistance in identifying and apprehending the suspect.

This incident serves as a warning to business owners and individuals to be cautious when dealing with customers and to verify transactions before releasing goods.
