The Senator representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, Saliu Mustapha, is set to organize different trainings and empowerment programmes for 920 artisans and market women in his constituency.
The Legislative Assistant to the Senator, Abdulkadir Tunde, who said this in an interview with Journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday, disclosed that event will hold on Thursday and Sunday respectively.
Tunde said the initiative was aimed at supporting the efforts of the federal and state governments in alleviating poverty in the country and equip beneficiaries with the requisite skills and knowledge needed to grow their businesses.
He said, “The training will hold on Thursday where about 320 beneficiaries will be trained, and on Sunday where 600 beneficiaries will also undergo training.
“Beneficiaries after the training will receive working tools, including mechanical equipment, gas-powered pressing irons, butterfly sewing machines, vlogging tools, industrial sewing machines, generators, grinding machines and other tools. Market women will also be trained and provided with goods related to their trade”.
The legislative aide stated that the artisan training is set for Thursday, August 29, 2024, while the market women’s training will take place on Sunday, September 1st, 2024.
He said Senator Mustapha remains committed to grassroots development and improving the livelihoods of his constituents.
