President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, on Monday dismissed the minister of state for finance, Charles Adu Boahen, following allegations of impropriety against him.
It was learnt that report of allegations of impropriety were distributed by a popular Ghanaian investigative journalist about the minister.
The statement which originates from the presidency states that the president sacked Adu Boahen after being informed of allegations against him in an expose.
It also revealed that the president had also transferred the matter to the Special Prosecutor for further and proper investigations.
The state minister did not immediately react to a request for comment.
It was gathered that there are calls from members of the Parliament for the removal of the minister of finance, Ken Ofori-Atta over accusation of economic mismanagement and corruption as the country is currently battling economic downfall.
Adu Boahen could be sighted in a video which was posted by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, and which has gone viral online.
The video also reportedly came with a voluminous email which contained detailed information about the allegations.
