The Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, has stated that Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola (a.k.a. Portable) will be facing more than six-count charges following his intractable conduct and incitement against police officers, PRISTINEGIST reports.
The controversial singer was arrested by men of the Ogun state police command on Friday, March 31.
In a Twitter post, CSP Muyiwa stated that Portable will be facing six-count charges against him.
CSP Muyiwa started, “I am sure u are very aware as I have addressed MC’s case, but Portable has more than 6 count charges to attend to, apart from resisting arrest and injuring a police man.
“He will be charged to court for beating up a guy in Otta, who fired a petition to CP Ogun.
He further said, “There are many pending cases of assaults on people and incursions, and he will be questioned because many people have complained about him.
“So, there is no sentiment in law, let him appear in court, and allow the judge to listen to the charges against him.
He has no constitutional immunity anyway. Ire o.” He wittily concluded.
Weeks ago, the police arrested the singer after the expiration of a seventy-two-hour ultimatum to show himself in.
This was disclosed through the Ogun State police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who stated that the “Zazoo Zeh” crooner got arrested on Friday, and he was at the state headquarters of the police in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Portable on Tuesday turned into warm exchanges with operatives of the Nigerian police force who stormed his bar to arrest him.
The incident was captured on his verified Instagram page, where the Zazu Zeh crooner became visibly tough at the authority of the police as they tried to cart him away.
Portable made sure to question the officials of his offense and even demanded to check their identity cards. He also rebuffed the officials’ attempts to halt him, telling them that he was a star and celebrity.
According to one of the officials, they got there to arrest the singer due to the petition towards him, and that they informed him that he isn’t above the law and can’t dictate how they operate.
The police later disclosed that they had received a petition against the singer and had summoned him for interrogation five times, but he had refused every time. According to the police command, they went to apprehend him at his bar after acquiring a warrant, but he resisted arrest.
Manny Monie, a former signee of the singer, had said in a video posted online recently that he was the one who wrote the petition to the police towards the singer.
According to Monie, the petition was written in December of the previous year, and efforts to turn Portable in for interrogation had failed.
“It was I who wrote the petition towards Portable. The petition isn’t recent. We wrote it late December last year. They gave him a maximum of three months to mention his personal facet of the story. He beat me, assaulted me, destroyed my property, made fake claims towards me online,” he added.
Reacting to the video, Portable accused Manny Monie of being an internet fraudster. Also stated that Monie was his apprentice, and that he certainly beat Monie.
He concluded that beating up his apprentice isn’t a thing the police should be worried about.
