The 2023 National Population and Housing Census is to commence on May 3, the Federal Government has confirmed.
Dr Garba Abari, a member of the Publicity and Advocacy Committee on the 2023 National Population and Housing Census, confirmed this on the News Agency of Nigeria Forum on Sunday in Abuja.
He stated that the three-day exercise would take place across the country from May 3 to May 5.
Abari, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), explained that the census would record every person, household, and structure for the purposes of national planning and project execution.
According to him, the date change was caused by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s postponement of the 2023 gubernatorial and state houses of assembly elections (INEC).
