26 Nigeria Troops Killed In Ambush As Rescue Helicopter Crashes

 

A helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) crashed on Sunday, August 14, 2023, while carrying out a casualty evacuation mission in Niger State.

 

The MI-171 Helicopter had taken off from Zungeru Primary School and was heading to Kaduna when it went down near Chukuba Village in Shiroro Local Government Area around 1.00 pm.

 

The NAF said it was making efforts to rescue the crew and passengers who were on board the helicopter at the time of the crash.

 

The NAF also said it had started preliminary investigations to find out the possible cause of the accident.

 

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, confirmed the crash in a statement.

 

He said the NAF would update the public on the outcome of the rescue operation and the investigation as soon as possible.
