Peter Obi’s Aide Jumps Ship to PDP for Bayelsa Elections

Alagoa Morris, the coordinator of Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in Bayelsa State, has officially switched allegiance from the Labour Party (LP) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Morris announced his decision to join the PDP in a statement released on Thursday in Yenagoa, just ahead of the Bayelsa Governorship Election scheduled for November 11, as reported by Naija News.

Morris, an Environmental Rights Activist, cited his support for the incumbent governor as his primary motivation for the move.

He praised Governor Duoye Diri as the most deserving candidate among the major contenders. Morris highlighted the governor’s numerous accomplishments, some of which remain undisclosed to the public.

He firmly expressed his commitment to backing Diri’s re-election bid in order to ensure the continuation of his positive impact.

“I have chosen to stand behind the incumbent governor due to his exceptional track record, which outshines that of the other significant candidates. Considering the available options for the upcoming November 11 election, Diri stands as the most deserving recipient of our support.

My association with the Labour Party was solely based on my role as the state coordinator, a task which has since been completed. Life moves forward. Recently, I was in the company of Governor Douye Diri, and after careful consideration of the candidates, I firmly believe that he is the candidate who merits our endorsement.

Given the fiscal constraints that newcomers would likely encounter, it’s prudent to allow the ongoing progress that Diri has established in collaboration with development partners and stakeholders to continue.

Diri’s accomplishments extend beyond the public eye, underscoring his efforts. In my view, he is earnestly striving, and thus it’s imperative that we provide our unwavering support for his continued leadership,” as quoted by Daily Post.
