Taiwo Awoniyi Nominated For August Premier League POTM Award

Awoniyi In Contention For Premier League Player Of the Month Award

Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has been shortlisted for the Premier League Player of the Month award for August, following his impressive start to the 2023-24 season.

The Nigerian international scored three goals in three games for Forest, including a stunning strike against Manchester United at Old Trafford. He also netted against Arsenal and Sheffield United, helping his team to four points from their opening three fixtures.

Awoniyi, who joined Forest from Liverpool in a £15 million deal in July, is competing with four other players for the prestigious award. They are Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma, West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, and Tottenham’s James Maddison.

The winner of the award will be decided by a combination of votes from fans, captains of the 20 Premier League clubs, and a panel of football experts. Fans can cast their votes on the official Premier League website until September 10.

Awoniyi’s fine form has also earned him a recall to the Super Eagles squad for their final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe. The 26-year-old is currently in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, with his national teammates, preparing for the game on September 12.
