Elegushi Royal Family Denies Link To Sam Larry After Mohbad’s Death

The Elegushi Royal family has issued a disclaimer and denied any affiliation to Sam Larry, a Nigerian socialite and member of Marlian Music, following the death of singer Mohbad.

Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died on Monday from complications of an ear infection. He was 27 years old. He was a former signee of Marlian Music, a record label owned by controversial rapper Naira Marley.

However, before his death, Mohbad had accused Sam Larry and Oba Saheed Elegushi, the king of Ikate land in Lagos, of threatening him after he left the label. He claimed that they wanted him to pay a huge sum of money as compensation for breaking his contract. He also alleged that they were behind some of the attacks and harassment he faced from unknown assailants.

Mohbad had filed a petition against Sam Larry and Oba Elegushi at the Lagos State Police Command in June, seeking protection and justice. He also released a video on social media, where he narrated his ordeal and pleaded with his fans to pray for him.

However, in a statement released on Wednesday, the Elegushi Royal family said that they had no connection or relationship with Sam Larry, who they described as an impostor and a fraudster. They said that Sam Larry was not a member of their family or a representative of their king. They also said that they had no knowledge or involvement in the dispute between Mohbad and Marlian Music.

The statement read: “The attention of the Elegushi Royal family has been drawn to the unfortunate death of a young Nigerian singer, Mohbad, and the allegations linking one Sam Larry to our revered king, Oba Saheed Elegushi.

We wish to state categorically that we have no affiliation whatsoever with Sam Larry, who is an impostor and a fraudster. He is not a member of our royal family or a representative of our king. He is using the name and image of Oba Elegushi to perpetrate his nefarious activities and deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

We also wish to state that we have no knowledge or involvement in the dispute between Mohbad and Marlian Music. We are not aware of any threat or intimidation from our king or anyone acting on his behalf towards Mohbad or any other person. We have no interest or concern in the affairs of Marlian Music or any other record label.

We hereby advise Sam Larry to desist from using the name and image of Oba Elegushi for his personal gain or face legal action. We also urge the public to disregard any information or claim linking our king or our royal family to Sam Larry or Mohbad’s death.

We commiserate with the family and fans of Mohbad and pray that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.”
