Man Arrested For Uploading Married Woman’s Nude Video On Social Media
A man from the Ezinato community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State has been arrested for allegedly blackmailing a woman with her nude video and demanding N3000 to delete it.
The suspect, identified as Chinedu, confessed that he got the video from his friend, Chiagozie Nwafor, who also hails from the same community. He said he contacted the woman via WhatsApp and Facebook and threatened to expose the video to her husband and the public if she did not pay him.
The woman, who had lost her memory card earlier this year, refused to pay and reported the matter to the authorities. She later discovered that the video had gone viral on social media and that many people had claimed to have gotten it from Chinedu.
The suspect was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) in Ogun State, where he had relocated to. He claimed that he had deleted the video after chatting with the woman and that he did not know that his friend had leaked it online.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, who interrogated the suspect at her office in Awka, said that the state government would not tolerate any act of rascality and criminality in the state and would prosecute the suspect accordingly.
She said that the administration of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo abhors rascality and stupidity and would protect the dignity and privacy of its citizens.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Anambra State Police Command and will be arraigned before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka.
