Woman arrested for bathing husband with acid over N15,000 in Rivers State

 

A woman has been arrested by the police in Rivers State for allegedly pouring acid on her husband’s face over a dispute involving N15,000. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 14, at Nchia community, in Eleme Local Government Area.

 

According to reports, the woman, who is from Akwa-Ibom but married to a man from Nchia community, was angry that her husband had withheld her share of the dividend paid to the family as host community to multinational companies. She claimed that her husband refused to give her and their two children what was due to them out of the money.

 

In a fit of rage, she attacked her husband with acid and took his Automated Tell Machine (ATM) card. She then tried to flee the scene, but was intercepted by the Nchia Security Council (community vigilante) headed by Abel Oluka, and other youths of Agbonchia community.

 

The woman was found hiding in the ceiling of her house and was apprehended. She was handed over to the Eleme Police Station for further investigation, while her husband was rushed to a hospital for urgent medical attention.

 

The police spokesperson in Rivers State, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident and said that the woman would be charged to court after investigation. He also warned couples to resolve their differences peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.
