Court Sets Date To Arraign Suspended Adamawa REC

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in suspension, Barrister Hudu Ari Yunusa, will be arraigned on November 6, 2023, according to the Adamawa State High Court of Justice.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) removed Yunusa from office in February 2023 for illegitimately declaring Aisha Dahiru, also known as Binani, the APC’s nominee for governor of Adamawa State in the 2023 governorship election.

He is accused of breaking his oath of neutrality, acting unruly during elections, causing a commotion, and impersonating a public official, among other things.

The arraignment was originally scheduled for July 27th, 2023, but was postponed since Yunusa failed to show up.

According to this article, Justice Benjamin Manji Lawan was compelled to postpone the case for a third time.

The arraignment was then scheduled for October 23rd, 2023, however it was unable to proceed as scheduled since the court was unable to sit.

Justice Lawan set the new arraignment date when the matter was mentioned on October 23.
