Buhari Hails Supreme Court For Upholding Tinubu’s Election
Former President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the Supreme Court for dismissing the appeals of the PDP and LP candidates, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, on October 26, 2023, Buhari said the verdict was a relief to him and most Nigerians who voted for Tinubu in the February 23 polls.
He said the ruling was a confirmation of the people’s will over the minority’s resistance.
He urged the opposition to accept the outcome of the legal process and cooperate with the Tinubu/Shettima administration to move the country forward.
He also expressed worry over the low turnout of voters in some parts of the country and called for more civic participation in future elections.
He congratulated Tinubu and his team on their victory and wished them a successful tenure.
