I Didn’t Report Her Death Because I Was Scared – Boyfriend Arrested For Murdering And Mutilating Girlfriend

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – The police in Rivers State have arrested a final year student of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) for allegedly murdering and mutilating his girlfriend, who was also a student of the same institution.

The suspect, Demian Okoligwe, a 400-level student of Petrochemical Engineering, is accused of killing and harvesting the organs of his girlfriend, Justina Otuene, a 300-level student of Biochemistry.

The Rivers State Police Commissioner, Nwonyi Emeka, who paraded Okoligwe before the press, said he had invited Otuene to his house, where he allegedly killed her and cut up her body.

According to Emeka, the police received a tip-off from a neighbour of Okoligwe, who noticed a foul smell coming from his room. The police then broke into the room and found a bag containing Otuene’s remains.

The police commissioner said the suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended and taken in for questioning. He said the case has been transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.

Okoligwe, however, denied killing his girlfriend, claiming that he found her dismembered body in his apartment when he returned from a pharmacy. He said he was too scared and sick to report the incident to the police or anyone else. He also claimed that he lived alone and had no idea who could have killed Otuene.
