“I Was Gentle On Her” – Man Arrested For Raping 5-year-old Girl
A man identified as “Yellow” has been arrested for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl in Igbere, a town in Abia State. The 35-year-old suspect was caught in the act by an angry mob, who beat him up and handed him over to the local security personnel.
According to the suspect, he lured the girl with groundnuts and took her to a room, where he sexually assaulted her. He claimed that he was influenced by the “devil” and the cold weather, and that he tried to be gentle with the child.
The victim’s family rushed her to the hospital for medical attention, while the suspect awaits transfer to the police for further investigation.
The police spokesperson, ASP Maureen Chinaka, could not be reached for comment on the incident, which occurred barely four months after another man was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a 4-year-old girl in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State.
