ATBU Student Stabbed to Death by Phone Snatchers

Joseph Obiaje Agabaidu, a final year Geology student of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi (ATBU), was stabbed to death by unknown assailants who tried to rob his phone on Saturday evening.

He was returning to his lodge near the Yelwan Tudu Market when he was attacked. He died on Sunday morning after failing to recover from his injuries.

Agabaidu, who hailed from Logo State, was the eldest of four siblings, all studying at ATBU. His family and some university officials are taking his body back to his hometown.

This is the second time in a year that a Benue student has been killed in a phone-related robbery. Students and staff of ATBU have expressed their grief and anger over the incident and demanded better security measures from the authorities.

They are planning to hold a peaceful protest on Monday morning to draw attention to their plight and call for justice for Agabaidu and other victims of violence.
