“Shabby, You’re The Cause”: Man Commits Suicide Over Wife’s Infidelity

A Zambian musician, Nathan Mithi, has taken his own life after accusing his wife, Sabby Phiri, of cheating on him with multiple men. Mithi, who was a member of the Ghetto Link music group, posted a lengthy suicide note on his Facebook wall before killing himself.

In the note, Mithi revealed that he had been married to Sabby since 2012, but their relationship had been plagued by infidelity, deception, and lavish spending. He claimed that he had caught his wife having sex with other men on their matrimonial bed, including a relative, a landlord, a fellow musician, and a government official.

Mithi also confessed that he had been a flawed husband, who had tried to forgive and forget his wife’s affairs, but had failed to win her back. He said that he loved her deeply, but could not bear the pain of her betrayal. He advised other men to not marry for looks, but for character, and blamed Sabby’s mother for influencing her behavior.

Mithi said that he had left behind five children, three of whom he was not sure were his. He told his wife to enjoy her life while she could, and warned her that her actions would have consequences.

Mithi was buried on Thursday, December 14, 2023, amid public outcry and sympathy. The police have not commented on the case, but have urged the public to seek professional help if they are facing marital or mental problems.
