Kwara State Intensifies Efforts in War Against Drug Abuse – Special Assistant Convenes Crucial Committee Meeting

In a bold move to combat the growing issue of drug abuse, Aileru Olamilekan Mukail, the Special Assistant to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control, led a pivotal meeting with the Kwara State Drug Control Committee.

the meeting held at the Kwara State Ministry of Health, the meeting served as a platform to review and reinforce the administration’s commitment to creating a drug-free Kwara.

Mukail underscored the devastating impact of drug abuse on individuals and communities, emphasizing Governor AbdulRazaq’s resolute determination to address this challenge.

“Under Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership, we are committed to turning the tide and building a Kwara where our youth thrive in an environment free from the clutches of addiction,” Mukail stated.

The committee, comprising representatives from law enforcement, healthcare, education, and civil society, engaged in a robust discussion on key areas of focus.

These included enhancing prevention efforts, expanding access to treatment and rehabilitation, strengthening law enforcement, introducing technology in prevention, and fostering inter-agency collaboration.

Pharm. Barakat, the Chairperson of the Kwara State Drug Control Committee, expressed optimism in the collaboration. “Building a drug-free Kwara requires the collective effort of all stakeholders,” she affirmed.

The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and a clear roadmap for action. The committee pledged to work collaboratively, leveraging Governor AbdulRazaq’s support, to implement strategies aimed at achieving a drug-free Kwara State.
