Mohbad’s Wife, Wunmi Accuses Father-in-law Of Sponsoring Content Creators

The widow of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, Wunmi, has alleged that her father-in-law, Mr Aloba, is behind a series of online attacks and death threats against her and her eight-month-old son, Liam. She claimed that Mr Aloba wants to take over the properties of her late husband, who died in a mysterious circumstance earlier this year.

In an exclusive interview with SaharaReporters, Wunmi said that Mr Aloba had accused her of poisoning Mohbad and had hired some content creators, including one known as VeryDarkMan, to harass and intimidate her on social media. She said that she had received several calls from VeryDarkMan and another man based in South Africa, named Hayat, who had threatened to kill her and her son.

Wunmi also said that Mr Aloba had tried to persuade her mother-in-law and brother-in-law to join him in his plot, but they had refused. She said that her brother-in-law, Adurah, was the one who prepared the last meal that Mohbad ate before he died, but Mr Aloba wanted to pin the blame on her.

Wunmi denied any involvement in her husband’s death and said that she had a happy marriage with him. She said that Mohbad had tattooed their son’s name on his body when they found out his gender before his birth. She said that Mr Aloba was the one who pressured them to have a child early in their relationship.

Wunmi said that she had reported the matter to her husband’s lawyers, but they had advised her to ignore Mr Aloba. She said that she was living in fear for her life and her son’s life and appealed for justice and protection.

She went on to say that she and her son had been receiving threats from them, saying that they would not spare them. “I warned him that he would be held responsible if anything happened to my son. They said they would not stop until they killed me and my son because we were blocking my father-in-law from taking everything that belonged to his son. They also said that my son would not live to see his first birthday. That was the second time they made that threat,” she said.

However, when we reached out to Aloba, Mohbad’s father, for his response, he dismissed all the accusations that Wunmi made against him.

“I don’t want to talk about anything right now. All I want is justice for my son. I don’t know where she got those allegations from. They are not true. How can I pay bloggers when I don’t even have money for food? It doesn’t make sense. I would never do such a thing,” he said.

He said he was not aware of most of the allegations because he did not use social media.

“The only one I saw was when she insulted me and I deleted the message. But after that, I stopped paying attention to the media because it was giving me a lot of stress,” he said.

When we asked him if he had tried to get his wife to join him in his scheme against Wunmi and blame her for poisoning his son, he said it was the first time he heard about it from us.

Aloba said that some people were exploiting his son’s case to make money.

He said that the case was in court and he would leave it to his lawyers.

When we asked him if he knew that some people were threatening the lives of his daughter-in-law and grandson, claiming to be acting on his behalf, Aloba denied any knowledge of such threats.

He said, “No, no, no, I don’t know anything about that. We don’t live together, so I have no idea what is happening with them.”
