Governor AbdulRahman Unveils Plans for Ilorin Smart City at 58th IEDPU Conference

 

Today, at the 58th Annual National Conference of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq revealed plans for the ambitious Ilorin Smart City Satellite Town.

Governor AbdulRahman said that the 18,000-kilometre project will c commence preliminary works next year.

The governor emphasized the necessity for constant infrastructural upgrades, maintenance, and expansion in the capital city, considering its strategic position in the state and central Nigeria.

He, however, invited support for this historic milestone, anticipating immeasurable growth, real estate investments, and the transformation of Ilorin into a 21st-century city.

At the event held at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Governor commended the Emir, IEDPU, and Ilorin’s residents for their partnership in achieving inclusive growth and continuous improvement in living standards.

He further highlighted the Ilorin City Master Plan as a crucial step in the comprehensive development of the state.

In addition to the Smart City announcement, Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude for the community’s unwavering support and announced a personal donation of ₦25 million to the IEDPU’s skill acquisition center and the Central Mosque.

Top government officials, dignitaries, and religious leaders attended the socio-cultural gathering.

Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin praised the Governor’s achievements and ongoing support for the Emirate, while the National President of IEDPU commended the Governor for his laudable projects, including the recently inaugurated Education Trust Fund.

Justice Idris Haroon advocated for the establishment of the Ilorin Emirate Elders’ Forum, emphasizing its role in promoting peace, development, and unity.

The event also featured a lecture by Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen Al-Adabiy cautioning against teachings or acts that could undermine peace and unity.

The conference concluded with widespread appreciation for the Governor’s gender inclusion policies and programs, solidifying the commitment to a future marked by sustainable peace, unity, and progress in the Ilorin Emirate.
