Police Officer Who Shot Azeez Ijaduade Arrested

 

A movie director, Azeez Ijaduade, was shot in the neck by a police officer at a hotel in Ogun State, where he was filming a movie. The police officer, who was guarding a Chinese expatriate, fired a shot into the air during a company party and the bullet casing hit Ijaduade.

The incident happened on Saturday at Napoli Hotel Iperu Remo, where Ijaduade and his cast members were staying. He was taken to a hospital within Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, where he is recovering.

The hotel manager, Fakoya Adewale, reported the shooting to the Divisional Police Officer, who alerted the Ogun State Police Command. The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest of the police officer and the commencement of the investigation.

Odutola said that the police command would keep the public informed of the progress of the case. She also said that the actor was in a stable condition and that the Commander of Mopol 16 had visited him and offered to pay for his medical expenses.

She quoted the actor as saying that he was doing well and that he would be discharged soon.
