Lagos Traders Protest Against Tinubu, Say They Are Hungry

President Bola Tinubu faced a hostile reception from traders and residents of Lagos Island on Friday, as he visited the Idumota market.

The crowd, who lined up along the road, shouted “Ebi npa wa oo”, which means “we are hungry” in Yoruba, expressing their dissatisfaction with the government’s policies.

They also accused the president of being aware of their grievances, but ignoring them. They said the heavy security presence around the market was a sign of the president’s fear of the people’s reaction.

The president did not address the protesters, nor did he reveal the purpose of his visit to the market.
