WIFE’S HIV SECRET SHATTERS MARITAL TRUST

A Zimbabwean man has been left devastated after finding out that his wife of three years is HIV positive and has been hiding her status from him. He reportedly discovered that she has been secretly taking antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) throughout their marriage.

The man, who preferred to remain anonymous, said he stumbled upon his wife’s ARVs in their bedroom while looking for some documents. He said he was shocked and confused by the discovery, as he had no idea that his wife was living with HIV. He said he confronted his wife and she admitted that she had been positive since before they met, but she was afraid to tell him.

The man said he felt betrayed and hurt by his wife’s deception, as he had trusted her and loved her unconditionally. He said he did not know what to do, as he was unsure of his own status and the future of their marriage. He said he had not been using protection with his wife, as they had been trying to conceive a child.

The man said he had sought counselling and testing, and was awaiting his results. He said he hoped that his wife’s ARVs had protected him from contracting the virus, but he was prepared for the worst. He said he still loved his wife, but he did not know if he could forgive her for lying to him.

The wife, who also declined to reveal her identity, said she regretted keeping her HIV status a secret from her husband. She said she was scared of losing him and facing stigma and discrimination from society. She said she had been taking her ARVs religiously and had maintained an undetectable viral load, which meant that she could not transmit the virus to her husband. She said she hoped that her husband would understand and accept her, and that they could work on rebuilding their trust and their marriage.

HIV is a serious and incurable infection that affects the immune system and can lead to AIDS if left untreated. However, with proper medication and care, people living with HIV can live long and healthy lives, and prevent passing the virus to others. According to the World Health Organization, Zimbabwe has an estimated 1.2 million people living with HIV, and a prevalence rate of 12.9% among adults.
