FLAMES OF JUSTICE: KWARA HIGH COURT BUILDING ENGULFED BY FIRE

A massive fire broke out at the Kwara State High Court complex on Tuesday, destroying 40 offices, three open courts, and the registry and litigation departments.

The State Fire Service spokesman, Hassan Adekunle, said in a statement that the agency received a distress call around 7.33 am and rushed to the scene. He said the firefighters battled the inferno with courage and skill, managing to save the high court building from total ruin.

He said the fire was caused by a power surge, which sparked the flames in the main building. He stressed the need for proper electrical safety measures to prevent such incidents.

The Director of the State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, appealed to the public to be more safety-conscious and vigilant. He said the fire was a wake-up call for everyone to take precautions and avoid potential disasters.

The fire incident has disrupted the judicial activities and services at the high court complex, as many documents and equipment were lost to the flames. The authorities are yet to assess the extent of the damage and the cost of the repairs.
