Campus Tragedy: IMSU Student Arrested for Fatal Stabbing of FUTO Student

A shocking incident has unfolded within the academic community of Imo State as Francis Marvellous, a 21-year-old student from Imo State University (IMSU), is apprehended for the alleged murder of Chinagorom Marvellous Kingsley, a 22-year-old final year student at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO).

The arrest was made by the Imo State Police Command following a rapid response to a distress call. The suspect, who faced the wrath of an incensed crowd, was detained at the scene. The State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, confirmed that the victim’s body was found and taken to the Federal Medical Center, Owerri, where death was pronounced.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the stabbing, which occurred after a dispute with the university’s security unit. He also named three associates present during the altercation. The police are actively seeking these individuals and plan to bring them before the court after a thorough investigation.

In an effort to quell misinformation, the police have clarified that the incident was not ethnically motivated, as falsely portrayed on social media. CP Danjuma has tasked the Deputy Commissioner of Police with overseeing the case, emphasizing the importance of apprehending both the suspects and those spreading false narratives.

Tragically, the chaos also led to the death of another student from asthma complications, and injuries to others, highlighting the broader impact of the event on the student body. The police are committed to ensuring justice and maintaining peace within the community.
