Crackdown in Yaba: Authorities Nab Thugs in Yaba Charging N100 From Pedestrian With Loads To Cross Bridge

In a decisive move against urban corruption, the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources has reported the arrest of several individuals involved in the extortion of pedestrians in Yaba. The arrests came swiftly after a video showcasing the thugs’ illicit activities went viral, prompting immediate action from the Commissioner, Tokunbo Wahab.

The Commissioner’s directive led to the apprehension of the culprits by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps. The offenders, including an officer, are set to face justice without delay, as they will be arraigned in court forthwith. The operation also saw the capture of four additional suspects, all part of a larger network exploiting citizens using the state’s pedestrian bridges.

This crackdown signifies the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards such predatory practices and serves as a warning to others that the safety and well-being of Lagosians are of paramount importance.
