Turmoil in Ondo: Desperation Drives Looting of Tinubu-Branded Food Truck

In a dramatic display of desperation, residents of Akure, the capital city of Ondo state, were reported to have forcefully looted a truck carrying essential food items. The incident unfolded on Monday when the truck, bearing the name of President Bola Tinubu, encountered a mechanical breakdown at a bustling intersection known as the cultural centre along the Ondo express road.

Eyewitnesses recounted the scene as a diverse group of individuals, including petty traders, artisans, and transport workers, descended upon the immobilized vehicle. They swiftly pried open the truck to access the cargo of rice, beans, and garri, all packaged in boxes adorned with the president’s distinctive blue branding.

The aftermath of the looting spree left traces of the pilfered goods scattered along the roadside, captured in footage that circulated on social media platforms later that evening.

Social commentator Ibidapo Adelusi vehemently criticized the looters’ actions, urging law enforcement to take swift action against those responsible. “Despite the undeniable hardship, such acts remain crimes against our community,” Adelusi remarked.

Attempts to reach the Ondo police spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, for an official statement were unsuccessful at the time of reporting. The community awaits further developments as the situation continues to evoke strong reactions across the state.
