Triumph Over Terror: Katsina Police Dismantle Bandit Stronghold and Free 100 Hostages

In a daring operation, the Katsina State Police Command has struck a significant blow against criminality, eliminating five suspected bandits and rescuing a staggering 100 kidnapped victims. The command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, revealed these remarkable achievements during a press briefing in Katsina.

The successful operation also led to the recovery of 658 rustled animals and the apprehension of 11 alleged murderers and 29 accused rapists. March proved to be a formidable month for the command, with 51 major crime cases reported, including armed robbery, kidnapping, and cattle rustling.

Of these, 30 cases involving 64 suspects have been brought to justice, charged in the court of law. Additionally, the police arrested nine individuals for armed robbery and 19 for various crimes ranging from intimidation and incitement to theft and gang activities.

In a poignant gesture, the command honored the bravery of fallen officers by presenting cheques totaling over N4.5 million to 13 bereaved families. DCP Aminu Usman-Gusau, representing the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, made the presentation, drawing from the Group Life and Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Insurance Schemes.

This financial support stands as a testament to the sacrifices made by the officers who laid down their lives in the line of duty, ensuring the safety and security of Katsina State’s citizens.
