FRSC Officers’ Gesture of Kindness Garners Praise from Award-Wining Journalist

AbdulRasheed Akogun, an Ilorin-based multiple award-winning journalist, has shed light on the professionalism and kindness of some uniformed personnel with his recent encounter with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Akogun recounted his experience on April 28th, 2024, after completing a series of exams at Kwara State University, Malete.

He said that with fatigue and parched under the scorching sun, he found himself stopped by FRSC officials just before the Jebba/Bode-Saadu express-crossing to Shao.

He stated that he expected the usual routine of license and paperwork checks, but he was taken aback by the genuine concern shown by the officers when he mentioned his hunger and thirst. In a gesture of kindness, they not only provided him with a refreshing cold Coca-Cola but also offered him mangoes, tailored to alleviate his discomfort.

Despite his physical state, Akogun couldn’t help but admire the professionalism exhibited by the officers, including individuals identified as Mr. Aloba and Mr. Sulyman. Though regretful for not capturing the moment with a photograph, Akogun took to highlighting the exemplary conduct of these FRSC officers, urging others to join him in commending their dedication and kindness.

While acknowledging the need to address instances of unprofessional behavior among uniformed personnel, Akogun emphasized the importance of celebrating those who consistently uphold their duties with diligence and compassion. Through recognition and support, he believes, a culture of professionalism and accountability can be fostered within Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies.

As Nigerians reflect on the encounter shared by Akogun, it serves as a reminder of the everyday heroes who quietly go above and beyond to serve their communities, embodying the values of professionalism and compassion even in the face of adversity.
