Why I Wrote UTME Again, Unizik’s Best-graduating Student Reveals

In a remarkable display of determination and academic prowess, Juliet Chidiebube Uka, a first-class graduate of Chemistry from the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), has once again set the bar high by scoring an impressive 324 in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Uka, who emerged as the best-graduating student from UNIZIK’s Department of Chemistry in 2021, has taken the bold step to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a medical doctor. Despite her success in Chemistry, she sat for the UTME with the goal of studying Medicine, demonstrating that it’s never too late to chase one’s aspirations.

Her elder brother, Obiora Uka, expressed pride in Juliet’s unwavering commitment to her goals. “She has demonstrated resilience through outstanding performance. She has maintained that her ambition is to become a doctor. This led her to write Jamb again this year 2024 and scored an aggregate of 324,” he shared, reflecting the family’s support for her ambitions.

The news of Juliet’s achievement comes amidst the release of UTME results, where a staggering 1,402,490 candidates out of 1,842,464 failed to cross the 200-mark threshold. Yet, amidst these statistics, stories of exceptional scores like Juliet’s and Toro Shehu’s—who scored a remarkable 348—shine as beacons of inspiration, igniting conversations among netizens and highlighting the potential of Nigeria’s youth.

As the nation celebrates the achievements of these young scholars, the Uka family remains hopeful that Juliet will realize her lifelong dream and contribute to the medical field with the same excellence she has shown in her academic journey thus far.
