Exclusive: Governor AbdulRazak Changing The Story Of Sports Infrastructure In Kwara- Bola Magaji

 

In a groundbreaking initiative spearheaded by His Excellency, Governor Mallam Abdul Rahman AbdulRazak, Kwara State is poised to unveil a transformative sports infrastructure project aimed at elevating the athletic landscape in the State.

The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission made the statement In an exclusive interview with Pristinegist Media on Monday 14th of May 2024.

The executive chairman said that the project encompasses the construction of a new Table Tennis Arena, a separate Squash Indoor Hall, and the ongoing renovation of the Kwara State Indoor Complex, promising to revolutionize sports facilities in the state.

He stated: “The genesis of the project stems from Governor AbdulRasak’s keen observation of the inadequate conditions faced by table tennis players in the state. “

“Recognizing the need for a conducive environment to nurture talent and enhance performance, His Excellency championed the construction of a state-of-the-art Table Tennis Arena. Nowhere in Nigeria or Africa, you can see the standard of the project.

Magaji explained that despite the ongoing renovation of the indoor complex, the table tennis hall has been completed and is set to be unveiled imminently.

Moreover, he further said that the success and growing popularity of squash in Kwara State prompted Governor AbdulRasak to expand the existing facilities.

“He has not only increased the number of squash courts but also introduced innovative features such as the first-ever junior court for aspiring young players,” he explained.

“These additions solidify Kwara’s position as a hub for squash enthusiasts and further underscore the state’s commitment to supporting a diverse range of sports,” he added.

Mallam Bola shed light on the comprehensive enhancements planned for the facilities. Emphasizing the significance of the projects, Mogaji stated, “These projects are one of the best projects so far.” The Table Tennis Arena will feature essential amenities such as restrooms, dressing rooms, office spaces, and a spacious lobby, ensuring a comfortable and professional environment for athletes and spectators alike.

Similarly, the Squash Indoor Hall will be equipped with modern facilities, including a lobby, restrooms, and dressing rooms tailored to meet the needs of players.

Mogaji also revealed Governor AbdulRazak’s allocation of two billion naira for the renovation of the Kwara State Indoor Complex, emphasizing the commitment to modernizing existing facilities to international standards. With work already underway, the revamped complex is poised to attract a myriad of sporting events and further bolster Kwara’s reputation as a sporting destination.

Despite the ambitious scope of the project, Mogaji acknowledged potential challenges, particularly regarding maintenance. However, he reassured stakeholders of the commission’s dedication to implementing regular maintenance services to ensure the longevity of the facilities.
