The Kano state Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano.
The statement followed a previous gathering of Kano’s kingmakers at Government House.
On Thursday, May 23, the governor made the statement at Government House in Kano following the signing of the new emirate council law.
Along with his deputy, the speaker of the State House of Assembly, and other important government figures, Governor Yusuf signed the legislation.
Remember that Sanusi was overthrown by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2020 as a result of a personal dispute.
However, on Thursday, the assembly overturned the Kano Emirate Law of 2019, deposing Sanusi, which gave rise to a new development.
The five emirates and “all the appointments or offices arising therefrom” are eliminated under the recently passed bill.
Additionally, the bill mandates that the governor reinstate the prior Kano emirate system.
