“I feel bad for France players despite wanting Messi to win world cup” – Xavi

Barcelona head coach, Xavi Hernandez has stated that he felt sorry for France players and Barcelona players, Jules Kounde and Ousmane Dembele following Argentina’s triumph in Qatar.

Xavi believes that Argentina skipper Lionel Messi deserves to win the World Cup trophy because he had put so much into the game.

Recall that Messi had scored two goals as France held Argentina to a 3-3 draw with France in the World Cup final.

However, Argentina went on to defeat the Les Blues 4-2 on penalties to secure this year’s edition of the World Cup in Qatar.

“Argentina really deserved it, they were better at the game, just like Leo. That the best player in history didn’t have a World Cup was a bit strange. He now has the World Cup, so all that remains is to congratulate him because he deserves it. It has been an extraordinary final for the spectators. I feel bad for Jules and Ousmane, but it was spectacular, one of the best matches I have ever seen.” he said.
