Super Falcons Announce Squad For Olympic Tournament With Halimatu Ayinde At The Helm

Head Coach Randy Waldrum has finalized his squad for Nigeria’s Super Falcons ahead of this year’s Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France, featuring star midfielder Halimatu Ayinde. The team, a mix of seasoned veterans and emerging talents, is captained by Rasheedat Ajibade.

The squad includes goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Osinachi Ohale, and forward Asisat Oshoala, alongside 14 other selected players. Key defenders Oluwatosin Demehin and Michelle Alozie, midfielders Deborah Abiodun, Christy Ucheibe, and Toni Payne, as well as forwards Esther Okoronkwo, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Uchenna Kanu, round out the list.

Players currently on holiday in Nigeria are set to join home-based players and team officials on an Air France flight departing from Abuja to Sevilla, Spain, on Thursday night. The remaining players and technical team will arrive in Sevilla on Friday, where they will commence a two-week training camp to prepare for the tournament.

This training camp in Spain is expected to fine-tune the team’s preparations and build cohesion as they aim for success in France.
