TERRORISM UNLEASHED!

Hundreds of Boko Haram Terrorists Escape in Daring Niger Republic Jail Break

A massive prison break has rocked the restive Tillaberi region of Niger Republic, as hundreds of Boko Haram terrorists escaped from the high-security Koutoukale prison, 50 kilometers northwest of the capital, Niamey.

The daring escape has raised concerns about the ability of Niger’s military to contain jihadist threats, as they are already stretched thin protecting the junta that seized power in last year’s coup and responding to attacks in the west.

Eyewitnesses reported gunshots and explosions inside the prison, prompting a quick response from security forces. However, the inmates had already gained control of the prison, breaking through armored gates, barbed wire, and trenches.

The interior ministry has imposed a curfew in the Tillaberi region, and the entire River Niger region is on high alert. The curfew restricts all movement of pedestrians, bicycles, and motor vehicles.

The escaped prisoners include detainees from Niger’s conflict with armed groups linked to al Qaeda and Islamic State, as well as suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

This brazen jail break comes as Niger and its neighbors, Mali and Burkina Faso, all under military rule, struggle to contain increasing jihadist attacks.
