Police Corporal Relieved of Duties After Promoting Himself to Superintendent and Operating Illegally

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed Corporal Buba Adamu for refusing to report to his new station in Kaduna after being transferred from the Cross River State Police Command, where he had served for nine years.

Adamu, who allegedly promoted himself to superintendent, operated illegally from the Cross River command without supervision or reporting to a specific police command since 2015.

The dismissed corporal was detained after concerned members of the Nassarawa community in Calabar reported his illicit activities to the force. However, the community raised an alarm when they learned that the police command was under pressure to release him.

According to Irene Ugbo, spokesperson for the Cross River State Police Command, Adamu is no longer a policeman, and all police properties in his possession, including uniforms and identification cards, have been retrieved. The matter has been charged to court for further action.

This decisive action by the NPF demonstrates its commitment to discipline and accountability within the force.
