A 38-year-old nurse, Amarachukwu Nzekwe, has been arrested for brutally injuring her 13-year-old nephew with a heated laundry iron in Anambra State.

According to a press statement issued by the Media Aide to the state Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, the suspect was arrested by security operatives in collaboration with the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare after the incident went viral on social media.

Nzekwe, a native of Ezinifite in Aguata Local Government Area of the state, claimed she only disciplined her nephew after he stole from her. However, the severity of the punishment has sparked outrage and condemnation.
