BREAKING: After 3 Years And 10 Months, ENDSARS Protesters Released From Kirikiri Prison

Six people who had been wrongfully jailed since October 2020—two of whom were demonstrators for #EndSARS—have been released.

The following people were freed from Kirikiri Medium Prison in Lagos: Daniel Joyinbo, Adigun Sodiq, Kehinde Shola, Salaudeen Kamilu, Sodiq Useni, and Azeez Isiaka.

Securing their release was made possible in large part by the work of the Take It Back Movement (@TIBmovement).

In a recent tweet, activist Towolawi Jamiu verified their release and emphasized the movement’s dedication to making sure that no one is left behind in the fight for justice and complete emancipation.

Their release has been welcomed by Amnesty International, which emphasizes that they ought never to have been imprisoned in the first place.

”Amnesty International welcomes the release of #EndSARS protester unlawfully detained since October 2020. The protesters; Daniel Joyinbo, Adigun Sodiq, Kehinde Shola, Salaudeen Kamilu, Sodiq Useni and Azeez Isiaka should not have been detained in the first place.” the organization tweeted.
