Taiwo Awoniyi, the Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest attacker, has stated that he is not concerned about his present lack of playing time at the club, despite public opinion on the topic.

Nottingham Forest signed Awoniyi from Union Berlin for the 2022/23 season.

The striker is already in his third season with the club, but repeated ailments have limited his form.

In his rookie season, he scored 11 goals and assisted once in 30 matches.

Unfortunately, last season’s ailments that kept him out of the game for the majority of the season hampered his progress. In just 26 games across all competitions, Awoniyi provided 3 assists and 6 goals.

The 26-year-old has not been a reliable starter this season and has had trouble getting back into his rhythm.

He has made five appearances so far, three as a substitute and two as a starter, although he has not yet scored or assisted.

Awoniyi when asked if he was worried about his lack of game time, the former Liverpool player maintained that he’s unfazed.

“Football is a game of opinion, I’m not new at Nottingham forest this is my third year there I’m not new,” Awoniyi said. “And when it comes playing time and every player has the way things should be done.

“Everyone has there opinion, I have seen a lot of DMs saying, ‘Taiwo, why aren’t you playing at Nottingham? Are you injured?’ But in football, everyone has there opinion.

“As for me, I’m okay to play, and if others think I’m not okay, that is also their opinion.” in an interview with Brila F
