Nothing But Victory’ Will Earn Super Eagles Respect – Taiwo Awoniyi

Taiwo Awoniyi, the forward for Nottingham Forest, has voiced optimism about Nigeria’s chances ahead of their first of two games against Libya in this round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.

Before heading to Benghazi for the second leg, Nigeria will first host the Mediterranean Knights at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

After tying with Rwanda and winning against Benin Republic, the Super Eagles started their qualifying campaign.

The squad will be one step closer to earning a ticket at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco if they can defeat Libya and earn six points, which begins with this Friday’s match in Uyo.

“It’s a great privilege, and I believe every player here is ready for the task. We are focused on winning for the fans,” Awoniyi said.

“We’ve known each other for years, and seeing everyone again is exciting. For sure, we are ready for the game.”

Nigeria’s Super Eagles reached the final of the last AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire.
