4.3billion new naira notes meant for Yobe State have been diverted, Microfinance CEO

The Yobe-based Microfinance Bank CEO Mr. Almuhajir has accused some of the commercial bank managers of diverting 4.3 billion new naira notes allocated to Yobe state out of the state.

According to him: “I can authoritatively tell you that #4.3 billion new currency was not shared in Yobe state.

“I am very optimistic that this money was diverted out of the state and we won’t accept that.

“I insist that these monies are not in Yobe state, if you are in doubt, prove me wrong. Show me where they are kept. Or in whose possession they are, the people that got the money.

The CEO added that even the state government can’t boast of having #1 million nairas in cash in its possession.

Mr. Almuhajir argued that if the ATMs have been dispensing cash every minute between last week and today, I can assure you that we have not withdrawn 1 billion nairas in this state.

“We saw how people sleep at ATMs. There has never been a time when you don’t see people in long queues at ATM points

“He said it is pathetic that we have got to a stage where children can’t go to school, and small business owners have closed shops all because there is no cash at hand to run the business.

The poor man’s life has been made difficult,”
