The Nigerian Upcoming singer, Atilola Matthew Oluseun, popularly known as Shesco has said it is quite embarrassing for people to be saying that Burna boy, Wizkid and Tems are the only Nigerians to win the prestigious Grammy Award.
The fast-rising singer said this during an exclusive interview with Pristinegist yesterday.
He said, “Tems is the 10th Nigerian artist to win the Grammy award and people or some media platforms should stop saying only three Nigerian Artists have won the award.”
Shesco argued that Tems is not the first female Nigerian artist to win Grammy.
“It is embarrassing and I am dumbfounded to hear this from different media,” he added.
He further stated that Helen Folashade, (Sade Adu) was the first ever Nigerian female artist to win the Grammy award.
“There are many Nigerians that have won the Grammy award before Burna boy, wizkid and Tems.
Sikiru Adepoju won the prestigious award on two different occasions.
The percussionist and recording artist won a Grammy in 1991 and 2009.
Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel popularly known as Seal won Four Grammy awards.
Lekan Babalola also has two grammy awards in his name.
“Other Nigerian Artists that have won the prestigious award include: Hakeem Seriki(Chamillionaire), Jenn Nkiru, etc,” he concluded.
