Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, the commissioner of police for Kebbi State, has assured the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), political party candidates, and the electorate that sufficient security will be provided throughout the state on March 18 for the governor and state assembly elections.

He provided the reassurance yesterday at yet another meeting with significant Kebbi State election stakeholders held at the command’s Birnin Kebbi headquarters.

The purpose of the meeting, according to Kontagora, was to determine the difficulties encountered during the most recent presidential and national assembly elections and to make recommendations for how to improve security ahead of, during, and after the state’s rescheduled gubernatorial and state assembly elections.

He cautioned political actors against using youths and thugs to run the elections, emphasizing that such acts might endanger the entire electoral process.

The leadership, according to the CP, has acquired more tools and personnel in order to harshly deal with troublemakers during the state’s election next weekend.
