Nigerians To Pay N1,000 For NIN Verification – NIMC

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) says Nigerians will now pay a fee of N1,000 for NIN Verification fee when applying for passports.

In a statement that was made public on Monday and was signed by Kayode Adegoke, the head of corporate communications, the Commission stated that the new arrangement advances the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy’s directive to streamline the passport application, renewal and issuance processes.

As a result of this change, each application for a Nigerian passport would be subject to a NIN Verification fee. Hence, the commission announced that Nigerians must pay a charge of N1,000 for NIN integration and verification starting from April.

According to a statement from NIMC, each Nigerian who requests that their NIN be validated must pay N1,000, $3 for businesses in African nations, and N10.00 for businesses in other nations (or its international equivalent).

A new application process that has been agreed upon by the NIMC and NIS will considerably speed up passport issuance and re-issuance while reducing traffic at the NIS offices, the commission said.
