Nigerian superstar singer, Davido has expressed his regret at the loss of his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, in a recent sit-down with CNN.

Despite having completed his latest album (TIMELESS),  before his son’s death, the tragic loss weighed heavily on the singer and caused a delay in the album’s release.

Davido said, “Before my son passed, we had finished the album. But it was a tragic situation and I had to calm myself down and take a step back.”

The loss of his young son also had a profound impact on the singer’s emotional state, causing him to take a break from social media for a few weeks.

However, Davido credited his return to the music industry to the support of his family, friends, and fans during the difficult time.

He said that the outpouring of love and condolences he received from people from all over the world, including politicians, sportsmen, fellow musicians, and even presidents, helped him get back on his feet.

“Nobody would want that. And everybody knows that Chioma and I didn’t deserve that,” the singer said, referring to the loss of his son.

“Personally with me, the support I got from people was one of the things that helped me stand up again,” he added.

Despite the personal tragedy, Davido’s latest album, “Timeless” has been a massive hit, both in Nigeria and beyond.

The album features collaborations with artists such as Angelique Kidjo; British rapper, Skepta; South Africa’s Focalistic, Musa Keys, and Jamaica’s Dexta Daps. He has been widely praised for its catchy beats and insightful lyrics.

Howbeit, Davido’s resilience, and determination to keep creating music is a testament to his strength and commitment to the industry.

The love and support of his fans have helped him through the toughest times, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next.
