Reports reaching us indicate that bandits have abducted some students from the Government Day Secondary School in Awon, Kachia Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.

The abductors took away no fewer than ten (10) students from the school on Monday.

This incident is the latest in a growing trend of kidnappings that have lingered across various states in Northern Nigeria.

Samuel Aruwan, who doubles as the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State, released a statement confirming the abduction.

Although he did not point out the specific location where the event took place, he mentioned that the students were likely kidnapped either inside the school premises or outside the community.

“The Kaduna State Government has received preliminary reports from security agencies on the kidnapping of about 10 students in Kachia LGA”, the statement reads.

“According to the preliminary reports, the students of Government Secondary School, Awon (a day secondary school) were kidnapped on Monday.

“The exact location of the incident is yet to be ascertained, but detailed reports being awaited will clarify whether the incident occurred within the school premises or elsewhere.”

Kidnappings have become a significant menace to society, and Kaduna State has had its fair share of these heinous crimes.

Just this year, there have been instances of kidnappings of students, staff, and their families from educational institutions in the state.

This saga has weakened the education system in the region and caused fear and unrest among parents, students, and teachers.

Given the growing security concerns in the region, the state government has been making efforts to address the issue.

However, it seems that the government’s efforts have not been enough to curb these activities.

As the search for the missing students intensifies, the government has implored various security agencies to do everything within their power to ensure the safe rescue of the missing students.

The government has also called on members of the general public to be vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or movements in their community to the appropriate authorities.

Cases of kidnapping in Nigeria have sparked outrage among citizens, with many calling on the government to take strict measures against these heinous crimes.

It is hoped that the perpetrators of this act will be brought to book and that the families of the affected students will reunite with their loved ones soonest.
