Umrah: Widower & Divorcee Arrested For Smuggling Coc@ine With Ankara

In a significant development on the fight against the illegal drµg trade, the National Drµg Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has on 23 April 2023, apprehended two suspects for allegedly attempting to smuggle cocaine out of Nigeria.

Widower Ariyibi Ahmed Olaseinde and divorcee Akanbi Silifat Tunrayo were arrested at the international airport in Lagos while boarding a flight to Saudi Arabia.

According to the NDLEA, the suspects were carrying 14.4 kilograms of the illicit substance concealed in lace and ankara fabrics.

The items were intended for export on the pretext of the suspects going for a lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia.

However, the agency’s operatives were able to foil their illegal plan and arrested them on the spot.

This groundbreaking operation was carried out under the vigilant watch of the NDLEA officers stationed at the airport, who had been on high alert for any illegal drµg trafficking activity.

The prompt actions of the agency have once again demonstrated its commitment to combating the menace of drµg trafficking in the country.

The NDLEA has reiterated its resolve to deal decisively with anyone found involved in any form of drµg trafficking or consumption.

The suspects have been handed over to the anti-narcotic agency for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The agency has also called on individuals to remain vigilant and help in the fight against the scourge of drµgs in the country.

The NDLEA appreciates the collective efforts of all stakeholders in curbing the menace of drµgs in Nigeria.
