3 Dead, Many Injured In Abuja As Indigenous Gbayi And Hausa Fight

A communal clash between Gbagyi natives and Hausa residents has resulted in the deaths of at least three people at 3rd Avenue Gwarinpa in Abuja. The conflict began on Saturday, April 22nd, and escalated on Monday, April 24th.

The violence is believed to have started between Hausa Keke drivers and Gbagi indigenes.

Abuja Facts reported on Twitter that tension had been building since the altercation, and shared videos from the scene, including footage of a man bleeding profusely from facial wounds.

A video uploaded online shows a man’s bloody face while a voice narrates that Hausa drug dealers and Keke drivers broke into a counsellor’s home to rob him.

The Gbayi indigenes became upset and came out at night to ask the Hausa individuals to leave Gwarimpa, resulting in a confrontation that quickly escalated.

The violence left several people injured and tragically resulted in three casualties. Cars were also destroyed during the altercation.

Although the military was called in to restore order, the violence resumed after their departure late on Saturday night and again on Monday morning.

The situation highlights the need for communal harmony and the need for swift action to prevent any escalation of conflict.

While the authorities work to restore peace, residents of Gwarinpa remain on edge as the possibility of renewed violence looms.

The tragedy emphasizes the importance of conflict resolution strategies in preventing communal clashes and restoring peace in vulnerable areas.
